Groups and specialists

How a group plans work, asks for missing information, executes, and hands results back for approval.

A group is a shared conversation where several agents work on one request together. You describe what you need, the Chief decides which specialists take each part, and each specialist works on its piece and hands the result back to you.

How a request moves through a group

  1. You send a message. The Chief replies right away with who is taking each part.
  2. Each specialist checks what it needs. Before starting, it reads the conversation and any shared material. If something is missing, it asks you.
  3. You answer in the same conversation. Reply in the normal message box: your reply goes to the latest open question (or to the one you quote). Questions can come in rounds, and can wait as long as you need.
  4. The specialist does the work. Parts that depend on each other run in order; independent parts can run at the same time.
  5. You review the result. Approve it, or ask for changes.
  6. The Chief compiles the results into one document once every agent has handed over, and tells you which parts failed or never started, with how to retry them.

If your request already has everything a specialist needs, it starts working without asking.

Questions before the work

Specialists ask concrete questions about requirements, inputs, constraints and the result you expect. They read what is already in the conversation first, so you don't have to repeat yourself. Independent questions come together; a question that depends on an earlier answer waits for it.

A question is never treated as finished work. The specialist resumes the same task when you answer.

Approving, rework and reviews

Every finished result shows two actions:

  • Approve result accepts that exact version. Nothing else happens automatically.
  • Request rework sends it back to the same specialist with your feedback. The revised result needs a fresh approval: approving an older version never approves the new one.

After approving, you can also ask another agent in the group to review the result: pick a reviewer and choose Request review. The reviewer can accept the result, ask for changes (the specialist then revises it automatically, and the revision comes back to you for approval), or ask for more information. An agent never reviews its own work.

Only these actions count as approval. Saying "great, thanks" in the chat is just a message. Silence, an error or time passing never approves anything.

What you see while agents work

While an agent is busy, its message shows what it is doing:

Status Meaning
Discovering The specialist is checking whether it has what it needs
Executing It is doing the work, with its tools running
Editing It is revising an earlier result after rework or a review

A question waiting for your answer, or a result waiting for approval, is shown on the message itself and survives a page reload.

Messages from the Chief

Besides your messages and the specialists' questions and results, the Chief writes a few notices:

  • Acknowledgement: who is taking each part of your request.
  • Follow-up: which parts failed or never started, and how to retry them.
  • Document: the compiled results, once every agent has handed over.
  • Suggestion: an agent that would fit your request but isn't in the group yet, with a button to add it.

Notices are written in the workspace language (English or Portuguese); specialists write in your language.
